Implementing High-Quality IEPs

The Public Education Department – Office of Special Education presented no-cost professional learning sessions to strengthen IEP practices across New Mexico. These sessions supported teams in developing individualized education programs (IEPs) that aligned measurable goals, data-driven decisions, and student-focused outcomes. The initiative empowered IEP teams to design and implement high-quality plans by deepening their understanding of each section of the IEP and emphasizing the use of meaningful data.

Through this learning series, teams were encouraged to integrate input from both general and special education teachers, incorporate the voices of parents, caregivers, and students, and make informed decisions about Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) placements. The sessions promoted inclusive practices and collaboration, equipping educators to drive improved outcomes for students with disabilities.
